Hunedoara

Hunedoara

Hunedoara is a Transylvania’s jewel, situated in southwestern part of Transylvania near the Poiana Rusca Mountains. This city holds magical and one of the most important Gothic-style secular buildings in whole Romania – Corvin Castle! It is a stunning structure from both outside and inside. We enjoyed wandering through the castle and exploring it. It went through various reconstructions from Austro-Hungarian to Romanian authorities.

In addition to the castle, the town developed as a production center for iron and a market for the mountain regions nearby. Inside the city you will find numerous parks, with poplars and chestnut trees flanking the streets. In the mountains couple kilometers from the city you can find a large dam which is also considered a tourist attraction.

In our opinion the Corvin Castle is why you must visit Hunedoara. It is just too good to miss while traveling through the country!
